Domestic Violence: More Common Than You Know

My good friend Anastasia Turchetta and I co-wrote this article for the latest RDH Magazine. It became a real “passion project” for us – the more we researched, the more we wanted to shout the statistics from rooftops. Almost a third of all women fall into a category of abuse at some point in their lives. Look around your office – your employees and coworkers – I bet you have more than three women in the vicinity. One of them is likely to have been or will be a victim.

This is an important topic – with very real repercussions for all involved persons. I hope you read the article and pass it along. This month features Part 1 of a two-part series. I’ll post the link when next month’s issue is available.

I now ask all of my female TMJ and trauma patients about it.

  2. Thank you for stopping in – it’s a cause that needs more voices, definitely. If you’d like, I would be happy to write up an entry linking to your article. Very good point about asking the TMJ patients about it – I haven’t read too much about that connection.

  3. [...] awareness of domestic violence and its destructive effects on victim and family alike is a cause that’s near and dear to my heart. I smiled when I heard that Sirona Dental Systems will sponsor and partner with the American Academy [...]
